About Emily Reuben
I am a freelance videographer, editor, and writer with an M.A. in Digital Storytelling from Ball State University's Department of Media. I am also the co-host and researcher for the Arcade Academia podcast.

In the past, I have filled many roles. I was the digital marketing specialist at WISH-TV in Indianapolis. I managed social media for WISH-TV, created photo galleries for the station's website, and wrote news articles for the site. I was also sometimes sent as a reporter and photographer to cover local events.

Right out of graduate school, I was a press secretary for ten members of the Indiana House of Representatives. I simultaneously served as the press secretary to the Indiana Black Legislative Caucus. I created and managed video content for both caucuses' social media platforms, created their respective social media graphics, and wrote newsletters for select members. I also wrote and edited op-eds, media releases, and media advisories as needed.

I am very involved with the Indianapolis community. I am a voting member of the Assessment and Intervention Center (AIC) Advisory Board, which provides 24/7 assistance in navigating mental health, addiction, and housing insecurity. I am also the Secretary of the Arc of Indiana's Young Professionals Advisory Board.
I am proud to volunteer video and photography services to local Indianapolis nonprofits. In the past, I have volunteered as a photographer for Hoosier Women Forward and as a videographer for Our Choice Coalition.

I am deeply invested in researching and writing about Jewish history. In 2022, I was the Podcast Intern for the Indiana Jewish Historical Society. The following year, I was selected to participate in a board organized by the Encyclopedia of Indianapolis to define the publication's definition of antisemitism. As part of this project, I wrote four articles that expanded on Hoosier Jewish history. Currently, I am researching and filming a project about Hoosier Jews for Choice and their legislative efforts to secure abortions for Hoosiers on the basis of religious freedom.
In graduate school, I held down a competitive two-year assistantship at the David Owsley Museum of Art. My role was to create video content, graphics, and advertising for the museum. Alongside my assistantship, I was a Teaching Assistant for an undergraduate World Film History course, helping create the course syllabus, assigning projects, lecturing on an assigned film movement, and grading assignments. Most of my personal academic research centers on horror media and culture, and I have presented research on various aspects of the genre at both the PCA/ACA and MAPACA academic conferences.

For my capstone project, I directed a 30-minute documentary and created an accompanying website on the Bates v. Rivera club case, which resulted in the desegregation of an Indianapolis country club. I continue to update the website, record oral interviews, and research archival sources to continue adding to the project.
